What Does It Mean to Belong to a Century of Landscape Education?
Walking through the Sheffield Ways exhibition, I wasn't simply looking at old student projects. I was looking at more than a century of conversations between education, research and professional practice.
The exhibition looks back over hundreds of projects that staff, students and alumni have produced or been involved in since both departments began. Also taking a look forward to what the future now holds as the departments become one. Hoping to spark innovative conversations.
Well done to everyone involved over the past 2 years in creating this incredible exhibition which will be in the Arts Tower lower ground floor for a few weeks, then become a permanent exhibition in the lift lobbies of the Arts Tower. Open for everyone to see.
As a graduating student, I found this particularly meaningful. Rather than seeing graduation as an ending, I began to see it as joining a much longer professional journey.
Landscape architecture is built through collective knowledge, shared experience and continuous learning.
Every generation inherits landscapes—and the responsibility to shape what comes next.
